What its like growing up a triplet

I was born in Bend, Oregon in 1950 along with my brother, Jerry, and my sister, Sherry. I've often been asked what is it like to be raised as a triplet. At the time I really never gave it much thought, however, in reflecting back on this there were allot of things that were different. First of all, we were very seldom called by our names, we were refer ed to as "The Triplets". Only our mom, dad and sister would call us by our given names. From the time we entered school we were always refer ed to as "The Triplets" even though we each had our own quirks about us we always seemed to be linked together. Jerry was the science minded one, I was the engineer and Sherry, will she was just Sherry. We were like the "Three Musketeers" where one was you would find the other two. I guess this was just a carry over of spending 9 months with each other in the womb. We got along pretty good, and of course we would have our fights but they didn't last long. The biggest challenge was in not really having our own identities, I think this was due to always being refered to as a trio and our close ties with each other. I recall my first day in school, it was in Sutherlin, Oregon, there were only two first grade classes and they decided they were going to split us up, tow of us would be in one class and the thrid would be in a class by themself. WEll, I was the odd person out and I panicked, this was the very first time in my whole six years of life that I had been seperated from my brother and sister. I cried and cried until recess, then I saw them again, what a relief, but then recess was over and I was all alone again, after the first week it got better, I realized that they didn't disapper and that it would be okay.

More to come later
